Pinpoint works best when everyone uses it as intended. Below are some examples of what we consider misuse of the tool. As stated in our Service Terms, misuse may result in your access to Pinpoint being suspended or terminated.
Here are some examples of misuse:
-
Account Sharing or Transferring
Pinpoint accounts are non-transferable and should only be used by the individual they were issued to. If your organization needs access for additional team members or the individual managing the account for your organization needs to be changed, please reach out to us at pinpoint@learneo.com for assistance.
-
Using Pinpoint for Purposes Unrelated to Copyright
Pinpoint is intended solely for identifying and managing content that infringes on your copyright. It shouldn’t be used to report content or investigate matters for reasons unrelated to copyright (e.g. academic integrity, defamation, privacy violations, or other non-copyright-related concerns). It also should not be used to attempt to bypass paywalls or access content in unauthorized ways. If you need to report an issue that violates our Community Guidelines, you can do so using our Report Content Form. If your concern is not covered by our form, feel free to reach out to us anytime at pinpoint@learneo.com.
-
Submitting False, Unreviewed, or Automated Claims
All submissions through Pinpoint should be made in good faith, accurately representing your ownership rights. Misuse includes targeting content you don’t own, misrepresenting rights holders, failing to review submissions for accuracy, or employing automated tools or bots to submit claims without human oversight.
-
Resubmitting Content Without Providing New Information
If our team has previously reviewed a claim and requested additional information to verify ownership, please ensure you provide the necessary details before resubmitting. Continuously submitting the same content without addressing the feedback may hinder the review process and is considered misuse of the tool.
-
Uploading Content You Don’t Own
The upload feature in Pinpoint is designed to help you manage and protect your own copyrighted content. Uploading content you don't own the rights to, such as third-party textbooks, student-generated content, or materials from other publishers, can lead to inaccurate matches and unintended takedown actions. Please ensure you only upload content for which you and your organization holds the necessary rights.
If you’re ever unsure whether something falls within these guidelines, or if you think you might have made a mistake, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re committed to working directly with you to address any issues and make things right before taking any further steps.
Pinpoint is a work in progress, and we truly value your partnership as we continue to improve the tool. If at any time you have feedback, questions, or ideas, we encourage you to connect with us anytime through our Contact Us form. We’re here to help.
